testimony: kek batik

Posted in foodies

i printed out lollies's version of kek batik and tried at home that very night.

reason?? because i have been wanting to do baked cheesecake with the leftovers biskut merie but too lazy to wait till the cream cheese softens. and i have pretty much all ingredients to make one plus i haven't make kek batik for a looooong time. justified? tee hee

i omitted milo because the supply has run out. i substituted with cooking chocolate, i didn't follow through the butter measurement cos mine was hard so i put 3 big chunks of what i assumed equivalent to 3 tbs. i used 4 eggs cos that was all left in the fridge.

in prolly 15 to 20 minutes the kek batik was done! but since hubby brought along our camera to ipoh, here are pictures taken with my phone. they won't justify the taste, seriously.

hubs loves it. ulang2 makan lagi.
alif loves it... sedakkk mommy
mommyalif recommends it :)

her entry on her 3rd open house haunts me to get this recipe from my mom. btw she was sharing problem that she had with the yellow-color-roti-jala-mould, the plastic one. i observed mine at home pun having uneven ends, making the tiny hole even tinier small lump of roti jala batter will surely get stuck.

back to roti jala, it is a simple dish, some people just put flour, water, salt and color and yet the roti jala is so tasty. must be their 'air tangan', uh? my husband loves loves them roti jala with curry while moi on the other hand, prefers to eat them with serawa. serawa durian laaagi best! alif pulak just eat whatever is served for now. he he belum pandai komplen lagi... good

btw am putting this recipe online so that i could always look up on it, anytime anywhere. he he information on demand kinda thing :p feel free to try and please inform me whether they taste good or not :)

Roti jala a’la Mak Mah

Bahan A:
o 1 kg tepung gandum
o 1 cawan tepung beras
o 1 tin susu cair
o Sedikit pewarna kuning telur
o Garam, air secukupnya
o 1 atau 2 biji telur (optional)

Bahan B:
o 1 helai daun pandan
o Sedikit minyak / mentega

Cara- cara:
1. Masukkan kesemua bahan A ke dalam blender
2. Berhenti bila batter sudah bercampur sebati
3. Tapis batter
4. Panaskan kuali leper tahan lekat (non stick coated pan)

***Recipe could be halved or accordingly to your needs.

So there you go..recipe and tip as promised. Btw, if you guys have any tips or anything to add wrt roti jala, please feel free to share them yeah? Thanks!
